What Happens During Treatment

The patient will be allowed to lie, stand or sit as they are comfortable. If they are standing, they will be on a leash. The needle size is adjusted to the size and tolerance of the patient. The treatment lasts from 5-30 minutes once all of the needles are placed.

Other techniques used, as Dr. Radford is also trained in aqua puncture, moxibustion and electroacupuncture techniques.

How It Works

Acupuncture taps into the many channels (known as meridians) of energy (“Qi”) flow in the body. These meridians connect the outside of the body to the internal organs, joints, etc. With disease, often energy flow is stagnant or blocked, and can be released by the needles.

When Will We See Results

The typical patient needs to have 3-6 treatments spaced 1-4 weeks apart. Once the patient is feeling better, a quarterly “tune up”(every 3 months) is recommended to keep them on track, unless the illness was a short term one. With the addition of herbal medicine or food therapy, progress can be faster and treatments needed may be less.
